The item is exactly the same as the image, 16 pieces might be a bit small. But buying 2-3 can make a good play area. It's quite soft and non-slip. The only thing is that it's not very thick, my baby tried to roll and hit his head. The pieces do come with a smell but cleaning them and letting them air out removes it. I would buy again but I would also add a mat to make it more padded.
